Frans Lanting Artwork Supports Art for Africa

World-renowned wildlife photographer Frans Lanting has generously provided a professional photograph of a cheetah mother and cub to the Art for Africa project.

Frans Lanting has been hailed as one of the great nature photographers of our time. His influential work appears in books, magazines, and exhibitions around the world. For more than two decades he has documented wildlife and our relationship with nature in environments from the Amazon to Antarctica.

Newman Sculpture Installed at SculptureWalk 2006 in Sioux Falls SD

SculptureWalk is a program developed to promote art in the revitalized Downtown Sioux Falls business district. In its third year, and features 50 sculptures including Idaho sculptor Ken Newman's Forever Ready-Lab and Tale of Respect-Pheasant. Each sculpture is sponsored by local businesses and remain in front of the business for a year. Forever Ready is sponsored by Crane Building Investment Co. LLC and Tale of Respect is sponsored by First National Bank of Sioux Falls.

Wilson-Schultz Wins Gold Medal at Western Festival

Victoria's pastel painting, One of the Boys, was picked as the gold medal winner of the Pastel Division at the San Dimas Western Festival in San Dimas, Ca.

A 6 year veteran of the show, Victoria is grateful to the judges for their award. "I was so surprised," Victoria said, "This is a painting that I really enjoyed working on, I am so glad that it is being well received by others."

The original pastel of this painting along with other works by Victoria is currently exhibited at the Pinnell Gallery in Fallbrook, Ca.

Hughbanks Painting Donated to Protect Michigan Doves

Debbie Hughbanks has recently donated an acrylic painting to The Committee to Restore the Dove Shooting Ban in Michigan to assist in the campaign to restore the 100-year-old protection of mourning doves in that state.

The organization is planning several events this year in an attempt to restore the long standing protection the state has had in the past for this peaceful bird, which will have over 200,000 doves maimed or killed each and every year in Michigan alone if their efforts should fail in the November vote.

Andrea Rich Woodson Art Museum 2006 Master Wildlife Artist

The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum has named American woodcut artist Andrea Rich, SAA, WNAG, as its 2006 Master Wildlife Artist. She will receive the award during the preview opening of 'Birds in Art' on September 8, 2006.
As the Woodson's 28th Master Artist, Rich will be represented in 'Birds in Art' by a dozen artworks that exemplify her complex woodcut designs. Following a longstanding 'Birds in Art' opening weekend tradition, she will present a free public program at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 9.

Earths Treasure Chest Mosaic Mural
Raising Money for Youth Environmental Education and Wildlife

Daniel Taylor has been invited to contribute to an amazing masterpiece wildlife mural mosaic. This entails a special fund raising Mural Mosaic in support of Youth Environmental Education and Preservation of Wildlife. Daniel will be painting African endangered species, also featured by the Art for Africa project.

The project will be a stunning mosaic of wildlife and will bring the country and amazing artists together for the environment through one massive masterpiece.
