North American Birds-A Field Sketching Project by Brenda Carter

In 1998, Brenda developed a plan to paint as many different birds as
possible in one year. The unique aspect of the project was that all the
birds would be drawn in the field from direct observation. This was the
first known project of its kind. Working with her friend, Bruce di Labio -
an experienced birder whose specialty is finding rare birds - the pair
worked out a route for continental North America excluding Mexico. Using the

New Book Released by the Psaros

"Greater Newburyport -A Photographic Portrait"

This hardcover book consists of 127 pages containing 145 stunning color photographic images of the greater Newburyport, Massachusetts region. The book is a compilation of numerous local photographers and includes

Barbara Nelson bronze awarded to equestrian Hall of Famers

The United States Combined Training Association, an equestrian organization, recently announced its first inductees to the new Hall of Fame. The USCTA commissioned Barbara Nelson to create the award for those who are being honored for their achievements in the Olympic sport of Three-Day Eventing.

Art For Animal Show fundraiser for animals

This year's second annual Art For Animals Show is scheduled for September 22nd and 23rd of 2001. Again 15 of Canada's finest wildlife artist will gather under one roof. Siegrist Illustrates Panther Book

The "Realm of the Panther", a habitat book published by Soundprints and illustrated throughout by Wes Siegrist, features over 14 paintings of Florida panthers in their native South Florida landscape. The back of the book contains a gatefold illustration that folds out into a 34 inch wide panoramic view of the Big Cypress Preserve, the regional setting for the book. Twenty-six species featured in the gatefold are highlighted on the previous pages for children to locate in their respective habitat.

Lantz Original to be auctioned at Christie's in London

Christie's, the prestigious auction house in London, England will be offering two of Yvette Lantz' original paintings on November 18, 1999.

The two paintings are "Plains Drifters" - buffalo and magpies and "Canada Jay". Christie's features all the art in a catalogue which will be distributed world wide. The paintings are also featured at and www.nature-art net.

Wilson Wins First Prize at California Open

At the California Open Art Festival held on February 13th & 14th, 1999 in Del Mar, Ca., WWNAG member Patti Wilson's original oil painting of "Down on the Lake" won 1st place in the art competition. She will also be the Artist of the Year at next year's show. For interested art buyers, she will be exhibiting next at the "Reflections in Nature Show" in Fallbrook, CA the first week-end of May, 1999.
