AFC Events

Artists for Conservation is actively hosting an increasing number of live events each year. AFC's initiatives and events place high importance on collaboration with other organizations and dialogue to broaden knowledge and engagement in art and environmental education.

AFC's anchor event is the annual Artists for Conservation Festival in Vancouver, BC - a one-of-a-kind, international cultural event supporting and celebrating nature at one of the most spectacular venues on the planet - Grouse Mountain Resort. It's a highly anticipated event in the nature-inspired art field including AFC's annual world's top conservation-themed art exhibit with over 80 original artworks for sale in support of conservation,  documentary films about art and conservation, special lectures, live painting demos, adult and youth workshops, music and more.

International Ornithologists Congress 2018

When/Where: August  19 - 26, 2018 | Vancouver, BC Canada  | Convention Centre

IOC is one of the world's oldest and most important global organizations dedicated to bird studies - the 27th International Ornithological Congress (IOCongress2018) will be held in Vancouver, Canada. 

The main event will be held in Vancouver's spectacular Convention Centre in the epicenter of the city on the waterfront. AFC is the IOC2018 visual arts partner. AFC is planning several large-scale initiatives leading up to and during the event. Birds will be the theme for that year's exhibit.

The event traditionally attracts thousands of international bird scientists, patrons, researchers and birders.

40% of artwork sales proceeds support conservation.

The AFC exhibit is the world's top conservation-themed art exhibit and sale and provides a special opportunity to buy some of the latest original paintings and sculptures by masters around the world. The live exhibit will feature approximately 80 original artworks for sale by over 80 leading nature and wildlife artists from around the world. Enjoy worldwide artistic excellence, learn about conservation issues, and directly support conservation work through the purchase of artwork.

Don't miss the AFC exhibit featuring over 50 international artists from in the Ironwood Art Gallery at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Most of AFC's 2014 exhibit will go on exhibit to Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, accompanied by ongoing screenings of AFC's three documentary films. AFC produces a series of documentary films titled "Portraits of the Planet". Each film highlights different ways that art and artists are making a difference to save wildlife and wild places around the world.

Original art pieces in the exhibit are available for sale with 40 per cent of all sales directly supporting conservation and youth education programs. Several AFC artists will be in attendance over the course of the four day exhibit.  

Featuring 2-D and 3-D original artworks created by artists around the world. This annual touring exhibition celebrates artistic excellence in the depiction of nature, raises awareness of important conservation issues and directly supports organizations dedicated to addressing them.

Mark your calendars and join us in South Florida this April 30th. AFC is returning to South Florida for a second year, this time to two venues in Broward County. The opening is being hosted byt the Miramar Cultural Center, and features AFC's annual tour plus an expanded youth education program. 

The exhibit aims to become a rallying point for the local arts and conservation communities to advocate for public art, art instruction and environmental education in schools and, in general, a resurgence in arts and conservation advocacy across the region.

Through its exhibits, AFC links world-class art and artists with critical wildlife and nature conservation causes to inspire the public to become engaged and better informed. 40% of the proceeds from the sale of the artwork supports conservation and education. AFC along with the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation and other partners, are working to establish an expanded AFC exhibit as part of a major annual anchor event in South Florida.

Following the close of the exhibit at the Miramar Cultural Center, the exhibit will move to Nova Southeastern University’s Alvin Sherman Library, from May 12 to June 15, where the art will be on display and the youth education program will continue for the benefit of Broward County residents.

AFC's Christmas Show at OpenRoad Infiniti, Langley, BC

AFC's world-class art exhibit will make an encore appearance at OpenRoad Infiniti in Langley starting November 27. Free to the community, guests will have one last opportunity to admire purchase some of the latest original artworks by leading nature and wildlife artists from around the world. Accompanying the four-day exhibit will be live birds of prey, music, and a chance to mingle with some of the artists.

Original art pieces in the exhibit are available for sale with 40 per cent of all sales directly supporting Artists for Conservation’s youth and environmental education programs. Several AFC artists will be in attendance over the course of the four day exhibit. The event opens to public at 10am on Thursday, November 27 and runs until 4pm on Sunday, November 30 at Open Road Infiniti in Langley. 

Starting at 11am, special family activities including crafts, artists’ meet and greets, live music by guitarist John Gilliat, live birds of prey from Delta’s OWL Rehabilitation Society and live art demonstrations are planned for the weekend.
